Usable by everyone

Louisiana Trades Licensing is designed to meet WCAG 2.1, Level AA, the standard the U.S. Department of Justice's ADA Title II web-accessibility rule (28 CFR 35.200) sets for state and local government web content, and to work fully without the AI assistant.

What that means here

  • Every page, task and record is reachable by keyboard and by screen reader: the search-or-ask box is a labelled combobox, the Ask LA sheet is a dialog that traps focus and returns it on close, and the licensee portal and agency console announce route changes.
  • Nothing depends on the assistant. The license catalog, the register search, the boards page, the portal and the console are conventional pages; Ask LA is an addition, and when no model is configured the site says so and everything else keeps working.
  • Motion respects prefers-reduced-motion; colour contrast meets AA on the marsh background; text scales to 200 percent without loss of content.
  • Print documents (certificates, invoices, receipts, letters) are plain HTML with a logical reading order.

Compliance timeline

Federal rule 28 CFR 35.200(b)(1), as amended April 20, 2026 (91 FR 20902), requires WCAG 2.1 A and AA conformance for public entities over 50,000 population by April 26, 2027.
